A narrow kitchen on the sixteenth floor of a high-rise building in Brussels became a vibrant part of the apartment. The existing doorway was closed off with a semi-transparent cabinet, while a new entrance was created in the wall between the kitchen and living area. An additional circular opening creates a connection between the two spaces while simultaneously concealing the clutter on the worktop.
Together with Alice, a carefully considered colour palette was developed, with a painting of a pear by her grandfather serving as an important point of departure. A new warm red linoleum floor, combined with a white marble entreporte, echoes the warm tones of the tall cabinet wall, which continues above the worktop. The stainless-steel worktop and splashback are paired with soft pink fronts. In the former doorway, a bright blue cabinet was installed, immediately setting the tone upon entering the apartment.
